Judy Garland Prepares To Sing Final Song For Her Show. Wow. I Got Chills Just Listening.

People forget that Judy Garland was a famous actress. She had a great singing voice, too. Take this video, for example. There’s some doubt about whether this was actually deleted from the finale or moved to a different show. People’s memories from around that time are hazy. Whatever the backstory, let’s just focus on her singing and times when you see in her eyes the girl that captured everyone’s heart in “The Wizard of Oz”.

Garland belts out a song “By Myself”, which she meant to be a farewell to the show, since she knew it was going to be cancelled. She was upset that President John F. Kennedy, one of her biggest supporters, had been assassinated. His death also made it easy for those at CBS, who produced the show, to backstab her and cancel the show. This song was her backhand smack at the people who were behind that.

You don’t need to adjust the settings on your computer or phone – there are a lot of black spots moving around the screen on Garland’s dress. You can also cancel your eye appointment. According to comments on the YouTube page, this segment was shot on videotape rather than film, which makes the screen quality deteriorate RAPIDLY. That’s why watching this video can give you a headache…

Garland lived a hard life and she did look older than her 42 years. Financial difficulties had worn her down, too. She would only live for five more years after that, dying at the age of 47 due to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. It was a real shame, a talent like hers dying as young as she did. It was no Amy Winehouse, but 47 is still far too early to die. Show business is a brutal business.

What did you think of the performance? I thought it was great, despite the glitter. Tell us your thoughts in the comments section!
