Kelly Clarkson Sings Heartbreaking “Purple Rain” Cover In The Twin Cities, Prince’s Hometown

Prince was a well-loved and influential artist who left his mark all over modern music. In the short time since he passed away, fans from all walks of life have taken to the stage and internet to pay tribute.

Kelly Clarkson is one of those fans. Not only did Clarkson honor the late musician, but she did so onstage in his own hometown, performing “Purple Rain” for a sold out show.

Back in August 2015, Clarkson had a tour stop in the Twin Cities. One of her fans requested the tribute, and she was more than happy to follow through. Her rendition of this classic songs is undoubtedly one of the best.

Clarkson has powerful vocals, which she uses here to telegraph a deep well of passion and pure emotions. The song comes to life in her hands, and once again we are reminded why she was crowned the very first American Idol.

While there are many videos out there paying tribute to the late, great Prince, this one is one of the best. Clarkson has ensured that her rendition of “Purple Rain” will live on in the hearts of fans for years to come.
