He said that although his father and extended family were always playing music, he did not know he wanted to be a singer until he was twelve years old and attended a Ray Charles concert.

When his music career began in 1950, Rogers sang everything but country. From teenage rock to psychedelic rock and even jazz, Kenny didn’t actually cross over to country music until the 1970s!
