2002 was a good year for Kid Rock. He released the country rock song “Picture” as a single off his album Cocky. To this day that song is one of his most recognizable and well-loved releases.
He originally recorded the song as a duet with pop/country/rock artist Sheryl Crow, with whom he co-wrote the song. Unfortunately, when it came time to release the song, Crow’s record label wouldn’t allow Kid Rock to release her recorded version.
Kid Rock is not so easily stopped, however. He then teamed up with country singer Alison Moorer to record the song. He featured her as his duet partner on the official release.
Some radio stations still chose to play Crow’s version, regardless of what the record label said. With both Crow’s and Moorer’s version out in the world, there was some debate as to who the featured artist was on the single.on “Picture”, including LeAnn Rimes as part of his 2003 Christmas special. While opinions may vary, I think Rimes does it best!
