Some famous actors surprise us with their other talents. Most performers prepare for their careers by attempting to be ‘triple threats,’ which means they can sing, dance, and act. We all knew Telly Savalas could act from his legendary days as ‘Kojak.’ Few of us may have realized Telly can sing too!

In this performance, Telly sits on an empty stage with bright lights behind him. He begins to sing the song, ‘Some Broken Hearts Never Mend.’ Telly sits at a table with a cup of coffee in front of him. He holds onto his jacket. He still has the ‘Kojak’ persona during the song.
Then, he puts on his jacket at the musical interlude and lights a cigarette. The camera zooms in and then takes wide shots of Telly as he sings the lyrics, ‘Some broken hearts never mend. Some memories never end. Some tears will never dry. My love for you will never die.’

‘Some Broken Hearts Never Mend’ is a song written by Wayland Holyfield and initially recorded by country music star Don Williams. It was released in 1977 and hit number one for a week.
The song centered on lost love became an international hit for Telly. It topped the Swiss charts for two weeks and peaked at number two in Austria and number four in the Netherlands.

Aristotelis Savalas, also known as Telly, had a successful acting career over four decades. His crime drama series ‘Kojak’ ran from 1973 to 1978. Telly also appeared in many films through the 70s, including ‘The Dirty Dozen’ and ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told.’
