Legendary Americana guitarist Shawn Camp arrived with his fiancée Lauren Mascitti in support of her dream to become the next American Idol. Coming from a background in gospel music and benefiting from the songwriting guidance of Shawn, the Lewisville born artist delivered a breathtaking audition. Her original “If I Could Lose You” couldn’t have showcased her talent & voice better.
Lewisville, Ohio has produced a country great if this audition is anything to go by. After a song that conveyed storytelling, emotion and some of the smoothest vocals heard, the judges had nothing but praise. “Best storyteller wins, so if you tell a story and we believe you through and through, we’re going to subscribe. Make us melt.” Two ‘Yeses’ promptly arrived, with Lionel Richie first sharing “I’ve melted already” before sending her through to Hollywood.
With her fiancée charting Americana musician Shawn Camp playing accompaniment at her side, Lauren Mascitti blew away the judges. Her voice is made for country, and what better way to showcase her talent than a brilliant original composition that proved her talent as a songwriter as well? “If I Could Lose You” is a must-hear.
