The Hoff was born on July 17, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland, but shortly after, he moved to Florida and then almost immediately to Georgia, where he spent most of his youth. Hasselhoff found his love for the theater at a young age when he landed the role of Peter Pan at only seven years old.

He always wanted to be on Broadway, so he attended the California Institute of the Arts to get a degree in theater to make his dream a reality. Although he did not end up starring on Broadway until 2000, he finally made his debut in Jekyll & Hyde in the lead role and has since starred in Grease as Danny Zuko, Jesus Christ Superstar as Judas, and a Los Angeles production of The Rocky Horror Show as Dr.
