At a wild animal park in South Africa, a woman has integrated herself as the leader of a pride of lions. She spends her days laying about with them, giving lion hugs and kisses.
Or Lazmi raised the lions since they were cubs. Now about 17 months old, they still see her as the adult in their family and look to her for guidance. They even let her lie on them and kiss them.
The hope is that they will one day release these lions back into the wild, showing that captive lions can be reintegrated into the world outside of zoos. Because there are more lions in captivity in South Africa that in the wild, Lazmi is hoping that her cats can be lion ambassadors to the public at large.
