It looks like he’s just taking his dog for a walk, but when you look closer…OMG!

One thing that I’ve learned about life is that it is unpredictable. I used to be one of those fellows who would outline everything he wanted out of life. I was very big on planners, especially after I took a few courses on time management. These courses helped me a great deal in my professional life, I learned about priorities and how to keep them updated.

I had planned out how my life was going to be. Everything looked great and I knew what I needed to do to get there. Then, many things happened that made me rethink my strategy. I don’t think I was doing anything wrong by planning, I just think that you do have to leave a space for the unexpected, a plan B if you will. I didn’t have that, I didn’t know I needed to.

Once things had changed so much, I decided to take a Sabbatical. In this leave, I would rethink my entire plans and prioritize again. I went to visit some friends that I had in the north. They had been very important in my life and I think I might have neglected them a bit. I only saw them for a few days but that stay with them reminded me of what was very important in life.

I also met one of my friends I had not seen in a long while. He told me he had had an accident a few years before. The accident left him paraplegic. He could only move his arms, basically from the waist up. He needed to use a wheelchair to get around. When I asked him how he felt, he told me that the accident had taught him what was very important in life.

He had also made a lot of plans with his life and now, had to make new plans instead. This reminded me of the personal journey I was embarking myself. We still talk on the phone. I can only imagine what it must be like to know that you will not be able to use your legs again.

The man in the following video is a real hero. He adopted a dog and was living a normal life with him. One day, the dog required surgery and that’s when everything changed. The dog was left a paraplegic, but this man decided he would not give up on his new pal. Instead, he built a device for the dog to get some exercise. He also takes his dog for walks. How does he do it? Just watch!
