Lost Parrot Talks His Way Back Home After Daring Escape

A vibrant green parrot with a yellow beak perches on a person's shoulder, showcasing detailed feathers and a close-up view.

Tiki the parrot and his doting dad Brent are inseparable pals. The 5-year-old Solomon Island Eclectus parrot has been by Brent's side since he was just a little ball of green fluff. In their Cape Coral, Florida home, Tiki's cage door is always open so he can explore to his heart's content.

But one fateful cleaning day, Tiki saw an opportunity and darted out an open door, leaving Brent and his girlfriend heartbroken. For three agonizing days, they searched high and low, desperately hoping their feathered baby would come home.

Scared and alone, Tiki yearned for his loving family. That's when the plucky parrot spotted his chance - a friendly-looking group enjoying a post-Easter hangout. Mustering his courage, Tiki swooped in and chirped a cheeky "Peek-a-boo!"

Reed, the startled but kind patriarch, immediately knew this chatty charmer was no ordinary bird. With help from his sister (a vet, thank goodness!), they safely corralled Tiki and posted his photo online. When Brent saw his buddy's face, happy tears flowed.

The joyful reunion proved miracles do happen. For Tiki and Brent, the quarter-mile separation felt like a world apart. Now back where he belongs, Tiki's "peek-a-boo" has become a beloved story of a bond that even a daring escape can't break.
