Have ever wondered what would happen if a mama sheep mated with a papa goat? Probably not. Seems a bit unnatural, right? Well, I guess not because it happened! This video is going to show you exactly what happens when a sheep and goat mate!
A female sheep at a petting zoo got loose bred with Michael, the goat. Sheep and goats are a lot alike so it’s actually not a very big surprise, but I still feel very surprised. Mama sheep and Michael had known each other for quite some time, but I guess they decided to take their relationship to the next level. This resulted in a geep.
In this clip you can meet Butterfly, the geep in a petting zoo in Arizona. A geep, or shoat or a goat-sheep hybrid, is a rare species that was first documented in 2000. It shares the characteristics of both of its parents.
As you can see, Butterfly has the face and feet of a goat, but she also has a wool coat like a sheep. I am sure Butterfly is going to be a big attraction for this petting zoo. Priscilla Matola, the owner of the petting zoo, didn’t even know mama sheep was pregnant because they don’t have a male. Her three boys discovered Butterfly one Sunday morning.
She is super cute and since both sheep and goats love alfalfa, it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out what little Butterfly will eat. Right now she’s nursing and there are three boys who are in love with this little geep. I’m sure she won’t starve for attention.
