David Rule saw the fault in the American dream at a young age and decided to live his life differently. Inspired by the tiny home movement, he bought a trailer and built his own.

After purchasing an old car hauling trailer from an online marketplace, he got to work. He tore apart everything that was rusted or sticking out to create a clean and level base.
He spent some time designing the walls before building them on the driveway and carrying them to the trailer. He had a general idea of what he wanted from the end result, but many decisions were made in the moment.

David mostly followed Youtube tutorials for the building and carpentry aspects. He made mistakes and learned as he went but eventually ended up with a fully framed and roofed tiny home!
He wrapped the house with house wrap to protect it from the elements and added membranes around the window cutouts to seal the home from water. Eventually, he was able to add windows and a door!

The final step was adding the exterior. A brown and red color scheme didn’t look as David expected, but he pressed on. Small details like cleaning edges and corners result in an immaculate final look.
David loved the idea of living simply and made it happen. He didn’t know everything when he started, but he took action to accomplish his dreams and learned many new skills along the way. Now he has the exterior of a tiny home that he will someday finish and live in!
