Man Discovers 2 Baby Chipmunks in His Garden

You may have heard the idiom about a bird in the hand being worth two in the bush. But one lucky man tried to determine the conversion rate for a pair of baby chipmunks.

Two baby squirrels with striped backs rest in a person's cupped hands against a rocky background.

This man found these two heart-achingly cute little ones in his garden. When he reached out his hand, the two babies climbed on and treated the surprised man like a living playground.

Like most infantile animals, baby chipmunks are rambunctious and full of energy. Chipmunk mothers will stay with their babies for a month and a half, often using the morning to scavenge for food.

While baby chipmunks tend to stay in the comfort of their mom’s home, these little ones could not help but explore their new friend. Seconds after he had them in his hands, one of the babies clambered up his arm.

But what should you do if you find a pair of baby chipmunks? If you ever see any in your yard, return them to their nest and leave them alone. If their mother is still alive, she will return to them when you are gone.

Fortunately, this lucky man knew that was what he had to do. There was just one problem. One of the babies crawled off his hand, but the other more adventurous one decided they wanted to stay.

Gently, the man eased the curious little one back into their nest. With the babies safely returned home, he left them for their mom to come home. If you love watching adorable baby animals, you will want to watch this short video.
