American Idol runner up and Georgia native, Willie Spence, wowed the judges with his rendition of Rihanna’s hit song Diamonds at the American Idol audition.
He looked visibly nervous as he prepared to sing for superstars Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, who were the judges for this season of the hit reality show.
But as soon as Willie started to sing, the judges were blown away by his talent. Accompanied by just a piano, he took quite a bit of creative liberty and made the song his own.

With his eyes closed through the performance, Willie looked lost in the moment and the judges went along with him for the journey. You can see their visceral reactions every time Willie hits a high note or lands a particularly special vocal run.
At the end of it, the judges were truly at a loss for words. When they manage to regain their composure, Perry asks him where he sees himself in five years, and Willie says with confidence, “I see myself winning a grammy.”
Although he did not win first prize on the show, he was the runner up and he has been using his newfound fame to release music and share his voice with the world.
Willie’s latest single Never Be Alone was a raging success and the superstar is making the most of his talent and success in spite of all the setbacks he has faced.
