What comes to mind when you think about movies that incorporate dance? Definitely something close to the golden days of Hollywood. One immediately thinks dancing legends like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, but how about Robin Williams and Brad Pit?! Well, just you watch!
When you create a mash-up mix of 100 different iconic Hollywood dance scenes from the most popular movies and combined it with one of the most popular songs of all time, you get an amazing treat that will have your feet tapping from the moment you press play.
Spoiler Alert: You’re going to want to adjust your speakers for maximum listening pleasure. Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” was the inspiration for this compilation dance video. No wonder it has been watched more than 17 million times on YouTube, as of this writing. Although some scenes were shot outside Hollywood, most were within.
From Mr. Bean’s Holiday to Despicable Me and even the Wolf of Wall Street, all scenes were included with the intention of making this an awesome video. I especially loved the memories Whoopi Goldberg’s Sister Act 2, Saturday Night Fever Grease and Dirty Dancing brought. I felt like I was reliving my teenage years all over again.
As a video editor, I can’t imagine how much time it must have taken to locate digital clips of all of these films, determine which clips to use, synch their speed with the perfect segment of the song, and merge them all together. It’s a truly stunning technical (and entertaining) accomplishment.
