In the backyard of Robert Fuller, a mother hare was raising a family. He noticed the hare in the woods, and he also found she had two leverets, baby hares.
The leverets were the youngest he had ever seen. They were resting in a form, the nest that the female hare makes. Robert sets up cameras so he can observe their secret world.
Female hares leave their babies during the day so they can go foraging. Only at night does she go back to feed them. She only visits them once a day to avoid detection from predators.
One of the leverets is missing one night, and the mother hare spends an hour looking for him. Unfortunately, she doesn’t find him, and only one baby remains.
Robert sees the leveret during the day as he was checking on his camera. The baby has grown big and healthy. He remarked on how the leveret was staying still as a defense mechanism against predators.
During the day, the leveret is chased by a stoat but escapes with the help of his mother. In the night, an owl tried to grab him, and his mother came to the rescue again.
Under a car, the leveret waited for his mother to come and feed him. Robert was able to capture footage of the mother feeding her baby in his car park. In six months, the leveret would be able to start his own family.
