Mother pretends to be scared in order to teach her cub that his behavior is encouraged. It’s a life-skill for any cat.

Baby snow leopard and mother

Soon enough, mama snow leopard walks toward the tiny cub.  He pounces with everything he’s got but most of what he does is startle his mama. She ends up so startled she jumps higher than a kangaroo!

This baby snow leopard is being trained by mama to be able to pounce — and important skill for any young kitten to learn.

The zoo visitors noticed the cub hiding and watching his mother relax nearby. As mama turns her head, the cub sneaks a little closer. He slinks along, staying close to the ground. Whenever mom turns back, you can see the baby suddenly stands as still as a statue.

Mom easily outruns the cub, but now it is the visitors’ turn to be surprised. This tiny cub may need some more hunting training, but even at this tender age he sure knows how to create a scare.

Watch this adorable video as the baby snow leopard “startles” his mama and in turn, the cub learns a valuable life lesson.
