Murder, She Wrote was something else, I tell ya. I remember tuning in every week back in the day, eager to see what kind of mystery Jessica Fletcher would get herself into. That theme song would start up and I’d be glued to the TV set, ready for another wild ride through Cabot Cove.
The show had it all – superb characters, incredible plot twists that kept you guessing, and Angela Lansbury’s pitch-perfect performance as everyone’s favorite mystery writer turned amateur sleuth. I swear, that woman could solve a murder with nothing but a notebook and her wits. Half the time I was convinced she was secretly causing all the mayhem just to have something to write about!
Remember that time Jessica went undercover as a rodeo clown?
One episode that I always enjoyed was when Jessica infiltrated a traveling circus to catch a killer. There she was, decked out in full clown makeup, trying to interview suspects between pratfalls in the center ring. Only Jessica Fletcher could make greasepaint and a red rubber nose look dignified.
The guest stars were always a hoot too. Seems like every week there’d be some faded Hollywood star or up-and-coming actor popping up in Cabot Cove. I still chuckle thinking about the time William Shatner showed up playing an egotistical soap opera actor who got bumped off. His death scene was more over-the-top than anything he did on Star Trek!
Of course, no discussion of Murder, She Wrote would be complete without mentioning the parade of incompetent local sheriffs. Those poor fellas never stood a chance against Jessica’s deductive skills. By the end, they’d just hand her the badge and let her take over the whole investigation.
Why don’t you rewatch that classic episode where Jessica goes to a mystery writers’ convention?
If you loved this show, then share it with a friend because revisiting Murder, She Wrote is like catching up with an old pal – comforting, familiar, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
