From the moment that Jacob Daniel Murphy began his blind audition, it was clear that he was destined to join The Voice. The twenty-seven-year-old singer delivered a soulful rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Until You Come Back to Me.” As one of his greatest inspirations in life, Aretha’s track suited his jazzy voice to perfection.
Despite a smooth, strong audition for the whole extent of the track, it was only Blake Shelton who turned. He seemed extremely surprised that he was the only lucky coach to be vying for Jacob. With the rest of the panel regretting their choice, Blake cheerfully commented, “I’m havin’ the best day right now,” due to this being the second time in the same audition day that he was the only one to turn.
The blues vibe added to Aretha Franklin’s timeless hit “Until You Come Back to Me” could be seen as a risk, but it was wonderfully pulled off. Stellar vocals, in combination with total control, won Jacob Daniel Murphy’s progression in season eighteen of The Voice, with the guidance of the show’s most experienced coach.
