Dog Owners, Check Your Pup’s Food ASAP! Three More Dog Food Recalls Have Been Issued!

Three new dog food recalls are in effect, bringing the number of pet food recalls to 22 this year (as opposed to 10 in 2014), a very frightening statistic.

The latest dog food to be recalled is OC Raw Dog based in California. The company has recalled 640 pounds of its Chicken, Fish & Produce Raw Frozen Canine Formulation due to salmonella contamination.

The 3-pound Meaty Rox and 6.5-pound Doggie Dozen Patties, 4-pound Doggie Sliders (lot number 1819 with “use by” date of 05/05/16 are all being recalled, even though distribution was limited to Colorado, Vermont, and Pennsylvania through independent and specialty retailers. Make sure to check your food, and contact OC Raw Dog if you think you have purchased any contaminated food.

The second recall is for Good n’ Fun Beefhide Chicken Sticks sold at Dollar General and Dollar Tree stores in all 50 states. These dog treats are potential salmonella risks. Lot #AO15010; expiration date of 03/2018; UPC code 0 91093 82247 1. Handle with care and dispose of immediately!

The third recall is for “Dingo Chip Twists with Chicken in the Middle” dog treats. This product is being recalled after amantadine was potentially contaminating this product (Amantadine is an antiviral medication meant for humans, and is NOT approved for use in pet foods.)

The treats were made in China (ugh) and sold in Texas, Wisconsin, California, Minnesota, Washington, Iowa, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

If you have purchased any of these products, you can contact the FDA to get more information on what to do with potentially contaminated items.
