The horse named Uniek went into labor so she laid down, but there was something wrong. They had to call the vet and keep her standing so the delivery didn’t happen too quickly.
A woman brushes her to keep her distracted and the vet comes to pull out the foal while Uniek remains standing. It took about 10 minutes to get him out.
Unfortunately, the foal is not alive, it had probably been for a few hours. Naturally, Uniek and the woman were very sad. Uniek spent some time laying on the ground licking the foal, trying to wake him.
A friend of the woman contacts her to tell her about an orphaned foal. He just lost his mother and needs someone to take care of him. They wanted to see if Uniek would accept him.
They bring the precious foal to meet Uniek. It is a gentle process. Uniek calls out as soon as she sees the foal. She appears to be happy.
They are careful to make sure Uniek doesn’t hurt the foal especially when he starts to try and get milk from her. Eventually Uniek nurses the foal and seems to have accepted him.
Uniek quickly warms up to the foal they call Rising Star. She shows him a lot of love and attention. They are now careful around Uniek and Rising start because she can be protective over her new foal.
