Cypress is a violet harlequin Ringneck parrot who lost one of his wings. After hatching, he was injured but was saved by a bird sitter who rescued him.

A small blue and white bird with a red beak stands on a dark surface, looking directly at the camera.

The bird could never fly because one of his wings had to be amputated. It kept growing backward into his body, causing him much pain and even bleeding. After his surgery, Cypress became a happy bird who would go around quite well on foot.

He could even climb cabinets and loved to talk all day. Cypress shared space with many other species of birds as his mama was a bird sitter. The parrot was very young when he began showing an interest in baby birds.

Cypress had this natural instinct of protecting them. Recently, he became very concerned and protective about two Eclectus parrot babies and guarded them fiercely. He climbed on the box where the baby birds were kept and patiently protected them.

When his mama came near the babies and wanted to pet them, Cypress did not like it. However, he was protective of the little birds and tried to save them from her. He even bit her leg and showed his mama that he was annoyed.

After a while, he sat on his mama's shoulder and often talked to her, offering her beak-kisses. When his mama kissed him back, the bird started to speak and said "pleasure" and "thank you" in a charming manner.

Cypress is not only a beautiful parrot but a guardian angel for all the birds in the house. His protective nature towards the baby birds showed how brave and intelligent the parrot was.
