Glen Campbell was a fantastic singer, actor, and TV host whose career spanned decades. His success led him to host his own show ‘The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour’ on CBS from 1969 to 1972.
His fabulous concert during his PBS special ‘Glen Campbell- In Concert’ showcased all his hits. In 2001, Glen performed with the South Dakota Symphony to record his 58th album for the PBS special.
The concert included all his big hits from 12 gold and four platinum albums. Glen even has a double-platinum album in his career. Glen sings some of his biggest songs accompanied by the orchestra, including ‘Wichita Lineman,’ ‘Gentle on My Mind,’ ‘By the Time I Get to Phoenix,’ and ‘Rhinestone Cowboy.’
The incredible set also includes ‘Highwayman,’ ‘It’s Only Make Believe,’ and ‘Little Green Apples.’ Glen has released 64 albums, spanning 5 decades, selling 45 million records worldwide.
Glen starts with his iconic classic ‘Wichita Lineman.’ The song reached number 3 on the U.S. pop chart and remained in the Top 100 for 15 weeks. It also topped the country and adult contemporary music charts.
There’s even a touching duet performed by Glen and his wife, Debby. The pair sing ‘Little Green Apples.’ The song won the Grammy for Song of the Year in 1969, and Glen and Debby sing together wonderfully.
The concert closes fittingly with Jim Croce’s ‘Time in a Bottle,’ followed by ‘Try a Little Tenderness.’ Glen again proves he is a masterful performer who delights his fans with his persona and talent.
