Pentatonix grabs eyeballs with mysterious video: ‘It’s Been a Long Long Time’

Pentatonix is taking the internet by storm with a new tour and album announcement. In a short and sweet video, we see the group performing a snippet of a song entitled ‘It’s Been a Long Long Time.’

Pentatonix, also known as PTX, is an American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas. They are known for their pop-style arrangements with vocal harmonies, basslines, riffing, percussion, and beatboxing.

They became an internet sensation because of the covers they performed of modern pop songs and Christmas songs, sometimes in medleys, along with original material.

The group consists of baritone Scott Hoying, tenor Mitch Grassi, alto Kirstin Maldonado, beatboxer Kevin Olusola, and basso Matt Sallee.

It all started with Kirstin Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, and Scott Hoying, who went to the same high school in Arlington. They had submitted a trio performance of the hit song ‘Telephone’ by Lady Gaga and Beyonce to a local radio competition for a chance to meet the cast of ‘Glee.’

Although they did not win, the performance did catch the attention of their school, and they began performing regularly. Their version of ‘Telephone’ also became a hit on Youtube.

Pentatonix has won three Grammies and is the first a capella group to win a grammy for Best Arrangement, Instrumental, or A Cappella, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
