The Royal Marines have done it again with a hilarious percussion duet starring a xylophonist and a tubophonist. The duet included a funny scene about leaky pipes as an homage to the tubophon.
It starts with the xylophonist trying to play a solo with the orchestra while the sound of dripping water distracts him. He moves over to the left of the stage where we see a large object under a cloth, and puts a bucket on it to “catch the water.”
He then calls a plumber to help him with the sound, a plumber who takes the stage and uncovers the tubophon during a short and cheeky sketch about “fixing the xylophonist’s pipe.”

After a few tongue-in-cheek jokes, the two of them gradually work their way into a duet of the theme song from Lone Ranger.
The two percussionists show incredible coordination and impeccable timing in their playing and even switch places at one point during the performance.
The plumber was the star of the show with a full plumber costume and tool bag full of extra pipes that he adds to the tubophon.
While it does appear that they are making mistakes at times, it is all actually a part of the performance as the Royal Marines are some of the world’s most disciplined and dedicated musical groups.
