Eleanor Bartsch wanted to be completely prepared for her performance of the Bach Concerto for Two Violins with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra at the Circus World Museum in Baraboo, WI. So she decided it would be the right thing to do a short warm-up in front of two of her close friends, Kelly and Viola. But Kelly and Viola are not human. They are elephants!
Kelly is 44 years old and Viola is 45 respectively. You are going to be amazed when you see their reaction to Eleanor’s playing. They sure like it! Kelly and Viola have been together for a long time and they seem to take a liking to similar types of things. And Bach seems to be no exception! This video will put a smile on your face!
Eleanor stands just outside their enclosure to play for these two gentle giants, and they both immediately begin to sway to the music when she plays. Their trunks are floating in front of them as they sway back and forth. One of them looks quite small compared to the other, but they are both very much adults and very entertained by the violin.
Elephants are well-known for their intelligence and gentle nature, and now apparently, for their excellent taste in music. I’ve seen many clips of elephants responding to music and singing, and they all respond positively. This one is no exception.
