People usually abandon their babies for many different reasons, such as disease, birth defects, appearances, et cetera. As it turns out, this phenomenon is not only common in human beings, but animals as well. Animals will often abandon their young if they look different or if they are weak because they will weaken the herd. It’s sad, but it’s the circle of life. Take a look at the video below to see a perfect example of a baby deer abandoned just because he looked different.
The adorable rare white fawn in the video below was rejected right from his birth by his mother because of his looks and the health issues he suffered from. He was born with a white face, which is very rare for a deer. He also had some health issues that made him weak, so his mother abandoned him.
But thankfully, this cute little creature has been given a second chance at life by the owners of a local farm called Deer Tracks Junction. His name is Dragon and he is being hand-raised by the farm owners. He is doing quite well as you can see in this clip. He’s doing so well that he’s actually a local star on the morning news!
The owner of the farm explains that an animal in the wild will not waste their energy raising an unhealthy offspring. Survival of the fittest, right? But little Dragon is doing just fine and he is like a family pet now. On the show, he is wagging his tail and loves the attention from the woman feeding him. He’s not even on a leash and he stays right with her.
