Raspy-Voiced Oklahoma Songbird Turns a Chair With Great Growl

Nineteen-year-old Kailey Abel from Verdigris, Oklahoma, opted for a cover of Alphaville’s “Forever Young” for her The Voice season eighteen blind audition. With a distinct growl in her voice and a raspy tone that everyone loved, Kailey impressed.

Blake was the first and only coach to turn despite all the coaches being seen enjoying her performance. As soon as she concluded, Blake Shelton cried out to the other coaches, “You three realize this show is called ‘The Voice’ and y’all heard what she has, that sound coming out of her mouth is an incredible voice!”

Singer-songwriter Kailey Abel from the small town of Verdigris in Rogers County, Oklahoma, won herself a spot on the team of one of The Voice’s most successful coaches. Her rendition of Alphaville’s “Forever Young” had the audience captivated from the start. You’ll be looking for more of her growl by the time her track is done.
