A classic from 1985 was ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’ by ‘Tears for Fears.’ The synth-pop song was a hit in Canada, the U.K., and America. Another fan favorite was ‘Take on Me’ by the band ‘A-ha.’

The hit music video featured the band members drawn into black-and-white cartoon sketches. Stevie Wonder also had a huge 1985 hit with ‘Part-Time Lover.’ The song hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

A duet also charted in 1985 between ‘UB40’ and ‘The Pretenders’ lead singer Chrissie Hynde. Their new rendition of ‘I Got You Babe’ took radio stations by storm. Alternative rockers ‘The Cure’ had a big ‘80s hit with ‘Close to Me.’

The rock band ‘Heart’ released a memorable power ballad titled ‘Never.’ Soul and R&B queen Tina Turner hit it big with ‘We Don’t Need Another Hero,’ from the film ‘Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.’

‘The Thompson Twins’ was a fantastic ‘80s duo with a 1985 hit with ‘Lay Your Hands on Me.’ And Fleetwood Mac lead singer Stevie Nicks released ‘Talk to Me.’ Stevie’s solo album solidified her as a solo artist.

The emotional ballad ‘Never Surrender’ by Corey Hart and ‘Voices Carry’ by ‘Til Tuesday’ pulled on the heartstrings of every ‘80s listener. ‘Starship’ scored a big hit with ‘We Built This City.’ ‘Simple Minds’ hit song from the movie ‘The Breakfast Club’ was titled ‘(Don’t You) Forget About Me.’ No one who lived through the ‘80s could forget these phenomenal songs.
