Hilary was behind where she thought she would be when it came time to retire. After considering her options, she moved into her tiny home to suit her financial situation.
Her living room has a couch/ottoman combination that transforms into a twin bed for guests. It also has storage underneath for bedding and extra pillows.
As with most tiny homes, Hilary relies on having a lot of natural light. There are windows on every wall in every room. She has even looked out and seen a mountain lion walk by!
The kitchen is a design dream. Hilary chose the color scheme and countertops before adding a backsplash to give the space dimension. She cooks her meals with a four-burner gas stove and oven and puts any extra food in her refrigerator.
The bathroom features a shower slightly narrower than a standard build but otherwise functional. A small vanity with two drawers offers bathroom storage in addition to a huge medicine cabinet. The smaller toilet saves space and requires no maintenance for Hilary.
Since she lives by herself, Hilary has extra room for quality-of-life improvements. She replaced a storage area with a “kitty condo” for her Siamese cat that lives with her. Hilary even installed a closet to hold her seasonal clothing until needed.
After raising her three children independently, Hilary looks forward to financial freedom and maintaining a smaller space. Since she bought her home for cash, she only rents the land it sits on. She is living comfortably on her retirement without a mortgage and loving it.
