If you remember 1999 in America, you witnessed some of the most iconic moments in U.S. history. The year was filled with exciting, tragic, and shocking news. 1999 was a year of incredible happenings.

There were memorable moments in sports. American women’s soccer player Brandi Chastain scored the winning goal over China on a penalty kick to win the FIFA women’s world cup. And Lance Armstrong famously won the ‘Tour de France.’

Entertainment news was prevalent, with ‘The Sopranos’ premiering in 1999. Soap opera star Susan Lucci finally won an Emmy award. Movie theaters were taken by storm with the indie film ‘Blair Witch Project,’ which debuted at the Sundance film festival.

Tragedy filled the news in 1999, and the U.S. saw its deadliest shooting at Columbine High School. President Bill Clinton was acquitted by the U.S. government and apologized to the American people. J.F.K. Jr., his wife, and his sister-in-law were killed in a small plane he was piloting.
