'Happy Days' had many classic scenes, including the one when Richie tries to stand up for himself with the Fonz's advice. The scene occurs at Arnold's diner as two men in leather jackets walk in and yell over to Richie, saying, 'Hey Bing-Bong, we never got to finish our game last time.'
Richie stands up to them as the Fonz walks out and asks if there's a problem. The guys in leather ask, 'You gonna save this kid again, Fonz?' And he responds, 'Maybe.' Richie says, 'It's ok, Fonz, I'll handle these clowns.' Richie talks tough and puts on a strong act.
Richie says, 'I'm gonna turn around, and when I turn back, you better be gone.' He turns, and Potsie and Ralph run away. Richie asks Fonz what happened, and Fonz says, 'Well, you nearly scared Potsie and Ralph to death.' Richie asks if Frankie backed down, and Fonz tells him, 'No. He's going like this,' he puts his fist to his palm multiple times, just like Frankie.
Richie turns back and says, 'One second.' He asks Fonz why that didn't work, and Fonz says that Richie has no reputation of toughness. So, Fonz tells Richie he'll bail him out, but Richie refuses and turns to the guys trying to fight.
Richie hesitates again, saying, 'One more second.' The crowd laughs at his reluctance. He asks Fonz if he has any advice, and Fonz says to hit him while his jacket is coming off because he'll have no hands. Richie says that's not fair, and Fonz says, 'Well, he'll kill you after that, so you get a free shot in.'
They step up to each other, and Richie takes off his coat. Frankie takes his jacket off, and Richie rips it off his arm. He starts swinging it and going crazy. Richie yells, 'Next time, it'll be you!' Then, Richie starts running around, jumping on a table, and throwing fists. He's completely freaking out, and it scares off the bullies. The restaurant owner stops him, and the two guys run out. Fonz grabs him and says he did good.
Richie admits he was scared half to death, and Fonz tells him everybody gets scared at some point. Richie asks, 'Even you?' And Fonz replies, 'No cause I'm the Fonz.'
