“Sometimes you just have to have something salty and crunchy. Instead of reaching for unhealthy chip options that are full of sodium and fat, try something else a little healthier. These chips are low carb, gluten-free, and keto-friendly. Warning, though, they are green.
These chips are green because they’re made of avocado. It seems avocados’ popularity has skyrocketed recently and more and more recipes using them have been surfacing. Avocado seems to be in or on everything today, from avocado toast to health and beauty products. This brings another meaning to the saying “going green.”
This quick tutorial shows you how you can whip up your own batch of these crispy, buttery chips in just a few minutes. Healthy food can actually be easy to make and taste great, too!
● 1 large ripe avocado
● 3/4 c. freshly grated Parmesan
● 1 tsp. lemon juice
● 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
● 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
● Kosher salt to taste (about ¼ tsp.)
● Freshly ground black pepper to taste (about ¼ tsp.)
Preheat your oven to 325° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Cut the avocado in half lengthwise, then remove and discard the seed and skin.
In a bowl, smash the avocado with the back of a fork until smooth. Add the parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and dry seasonings. Mix well.
Place one heaping teaspoon of the avocado mixture onto your baking sheet and flatten it with the back of your spoon or the bottom of a glass or measuring cup. You want it to be approximately 3” wide. Continue the same process with the rest of your avocado mixture.
Bake the chips until golden brown, about 30 minutes. Let them cool completely before serving at room temperature. Whether you choose to eat them plain or dipped in some ranch or French onion dip, they’re simply delicious.
So, next time you’re craving something salty and crunchy while you’re watching a movie, reach for the avocados instead of the chip bag. These avocado chips will satisfy your cravings, and it’s doubtful if you’ll even miss the carbs.”
