Nearly 20 years ago a crocodile lay dying on the banks of the Parasmina River in Costa after he was shot by a farmer. But when a local man named Chito Shedden crossed paths with him, something truly incredible and unfathomable happened! Chito couldn’t bear letting the poor crocodile die. So he took it upon himself to be the crocodile’s caretaker and best friend.
The crocodile was named Pocho and Chito did his best to nurse him back to health. When Pocho recovered, Chito took him back to the river to release him. But to his surprise, Pocho followed him home in the middle of the night and he found the croc sleeping on his veranda the next morning! At that point he knew that he would be connected to this crocodile forever.
Chito looked after Pocho for the next two decades asking permission from the Minister for Environment. They swim together and when I saw Chito put his forehead to the tip of Pocho’s nose and rest it there, I was amazed. This croc seems to actually love this man. And I know Chito loves this crocodile.
Pocho passed away in 2011 due to natural causes, but their friendship will no doubt surpass time! What an amazing bond these two have. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more unlikely friendship in all the ones I’ve seen on the Internet.
