Country Stars Come Together For The Children
Scotty McCreery, Carly Pearce, Hunter Hayes, and many others have joined forces to produce this heart-wrenching rendition of an already timeless classic — and it’s all for a good cause.
It came about when “Radio Disney Country” decided to produce the song to announce their new children’s health initiative and a sizable donation to care for juvenile cancer patients who are treated regardless of their ability to pay. The goal behind this collaboration was to raise awareness of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s mission.
So what better way to help these angels than with the aptly named classic, “Angels Among Us”? The award-winning song features touching lyrics like “Oh, I believe there are angels among us, sent down to us from somewhere up above.” The song highlights troubled times weighting someone down, and that there had always been someone “to come along and comfort me.”
“Angels Among Us” is a song written by Don Goodman and Becky Hobbs and recorded by the American country music band Alabama. Lead singer Randy Owen said that the band received “hundreds of letters from all over the world saying that the song was a blessing.”
The song was released in December 1993 as a Christmas single from the band’s 1993 album Cheap Seats. It charted twice on the Hot Country Songs charts. The song features backing vocals from the Sanctuary Choir and Young Musicians Choir of the First Baptist Church of Fort Payne, Alabama.
To truly appreciate this heartfelt song, any fan of Scotty should watch and listen to Alabama’s soul-stirring performance that inspired the star to bring a cast of county stars together for this great cause.

What got to me more than the song itself, was the participation of some of the hospital’s patients. Despite all that these kids have gone through, they are all smiling and happy. Listen to the heartwarming cover below, but make sure you have a box of tissues by your side first.
There are also some other famous country music voices you may recognize on the recording. Sara Evans, Hunter Hayes and RaeLynn lending their amazing voices to the song, too.
Country music has been a loyal partner with St. Jude ever since Randy Travis started the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program in 1989. Each year, country radio stations everywhere broadcast an emotional radiothon to raise money for the hospital and to ensure that no child is ever denied treatment because they afford treatment.
That makes it a little harder to watch this heart-rending video without dabbing your eyes a bit, doesn’t it? Turn up the volume and enjoy this beautiful song, but don’t forget that this was all for a good cause that still needs our support.
