It is said that animals like music as we humans do and it is suspected it’s because it makes them feel similar emotions as us or it relaxes them, which is the case with this elephant. I never knew it could actually put them to sleep. Playing a lullaby for an elephant may sound strange at first, but after watching this video, you will not think so when you see how relaxed they become.
The caretaker is fanning and brushing the elephant with a scarf, maybe to signal him to lay down or maybe to keep flies off of him to make it easier for him to relax. But, if you look closely you will see it is a touching gesture and the elephant is clearly quite used to it and finds it soothing. Lek, the caretaker, then begins singing a lullaby for this elephant and it doesn’t take long before he is snoring.
She certainly has a beautiful voice. And the elephant seems to enjoy her voice very much. As soon as she starts to sing, he just completely surrenders himself to her. He lies down and allows her to caress him. And after a while he just starts snoring in a steady rhythm, completely relaxed and comfortable.
There is no love greater than a mother’s love to her child. And Lek is just taking care of this gentle giant like a mother.
