She Built a Very Small House to Live in, but You Have to Step Inside to Really Admire It

A woman smiles in front of a small, brown, A-frame house in a lush, green backyard.

Dee Williams used to live in a 2000 square foot home, but her perspectives got altered when she helped in building a school in Guatemala. Her home suddenly seemed too big. So, she started working to build a 84 square foot home.

These small structures are called tiny homes. It took her just 3 months to build it. She asked for permission with her friends to park her tiny house in their backyard. And for 7 years, she would transfer her home here and there. But since the last 2 years she has stayed where she is. Dee works for Portland Alternative Dwellings (PAD) and helps in designing tiny homes for other people.
