Many of us are taught how to perform it at school, and it has helped save the life of countless people. However, learning how to do CPR to your pets is equally important. Sadly, not many people know about it.
Pets are curious and they often end up chewing and swallowing various objects lying around your household. They may choke on it. In this clip, Elaine Acker, former CEO of Pets America, demonstrates a CPR technique that all pet owners should know. The pooch featured in the video is Wolfgang. They chose him because he is a big guy and the process is clearer to see. However, this works the same way with cats as well. You just need to adjust the depth of your compression accordingly, just as you would with an infant as opposed to an adolescent in human CPR.
