Shelter dogs join students on their morning run

Running is not everyone’s cup of tea. But for a cross country team, it sure is. These students decided to go on their morning run with the dogs from their local shelter home.

The students at St. Joseph high school decided to try something different with the dogs at the local animal shelter in Santa Barbara county. They were adding more fun to their morning run.

With the help from the local shelter staff and their coach, they were able to bring these dogs for their first dog team morning run and were planning to make it a routine.

The dogs, bursting with energy, seemed to be enjoying their run, and so were the students. Apart from one Fred, who is not having it. Lucky for him, his guardian Josh didn’t mind carrying him.

While the dogs will have gotten their daily exercise or views for fluffy Frank, it creates more awareness within the community, increasing their adoption chances, and creates some responsibilities upon the students.

Each student was assigned a dog to take care of during the run, who was their running partner. Dogs are playful animals, and some of them try and get away from their partners; thankfully, they’re leashed.

The coach mentioned that he’s not sure who enjoyed the run more. He might have started a trend, with there being several videos of students running with shelter dogs after he shared this video on Facebook.
