Six years ago Casey Anderson found a tiny grizzly bear out in the wild. The baby’s mom was nowhere to be seen and he knew the little cub was unlikely to survive without his mother. So he took him in and that’s when their unbreakable bond began.
Many people thought that as the bear got older and bigger, he would become the wild bear his really is and Casey wouldn’t be able to handle him. But those people were wrong. Their relationship only strengthened with time. The bear is named Brutus and he grew up in Casey’s home until the day he was too large to stay.
He was too large to stay, but he and Casey were still best buds. What to do? He couldn’t send him out into the wild on his own. So he founded a solution. Casey went out of his way to build a Montana Grizzly Encounter Rescue and Educational Sanctuary, just for Brutus. Brutus can roam free and wild, like a grizzly is meant to roam, but he never forgets who Casey is.
Casey grew up surrounded by Montana wildlife, he studied biology in college, and he was waiting for an opportunity like this to come along where he could protect the land and help wild animals. This beautiful encounter has brought both Casey and Brutus incredible joy over the years.
