The hand of Daniil Tyuterev peers out onto the soil floor. It is a light brown basket of nuts. An oasis of food to the little red, tan and white squirrel that comes scurrying out of the undergrowth.
The little guy nibbles at the nuts, grabbing a few pieces to himself. Then suddenly, he pauses. His ears perk, and he almost drops the nut he has in his hand. Did he spot something?
This squirrel freezes, mouth agape, and eyes lost. And we have absolutely no idea why. Maybe the squirrel is now afraid of Daniil? For more than ten seconds, this critter is frozen in thought.
Daniil pushes the nuts closer in an attempt to remind our friend about his meal. But the rodent simply holds the nut he has in his two hands. At this point, it looks like he remembered he shouldn’t take food from strangers.
Alas! The tiny squirrel begins eating once more, gnawing away at the nut in his hand. Daniil encourages him, using his thumb to usher more kernels towards our feasting friend.
Again! He pauses! Something in the background scares him. Overhead there is the sound of a passing plane. The squirrel is at full alert and hyper-vigilant. He stays paused for many moments.
Daniil Tyuterev proceeds to rouse him. He proffers more nuts. Going as far as putting it in the squirrel’s arms. This seems to do the trick, and the critter starts nibbling his nuts once more. Soon after, the squirrel breaks and runs away. What a comical experience!
