DeeDee is a Saint Bernard dog who is 160 pounds and a first-time mother of a litter of two boys Duke and Atlas, and one girl Eleanor. With her pups weighing up to 4 pounds, DeeDee has a monumental task ahead of her.
St. Bernards have been a treasured large dog breed since the 17th century and were used in the Swiss Alps for their incredible sense of smell and ability to search and rescue travelers trapped in the snow.
DeeDee loves water and is an excellent swimmer. For her pups to learn similar skills, they need to first learn how to walk. Eleanor, the girl, is already sniffing around on her unsteady legs.
At three weeks, the puppies have grown in size and doubled their weight to 8 pounds each. These puppies are energetic and now spend the most time playing around. However, to Goldilocks, their housemate, the puppies make her a bit uneasy.
Goldilock is a Shi Tzu in the house and likes her quiet space and cozy bed. But this might end soon with the flustering from the plumpy pups. Eleanor searches for the unknown roommate using her keen instinctive traits, leading her to Goldilock’s comfy bed.
Her brothers Duke and Atlas follow close behind, and all enjoy the cozy slumber. Goldilock is displeased by the move and is unwilling to share her bed with three bulky cubs. She occupies a free couch in the room.
The pups, now at 5 weeks, add more body mass and are in a perfect size to have their first bath in a puppy-size pool. Due to their fast-growing thick fur, St Bernards require regular grooming to avoid hair matting. Eleanor gets uncomfortable being waterlogged and quickly figures out her way out of the pool, and the brothers follow.
