Usually when people make a change to their looks or do a thorough makeover, it’s for aesthetic reasons. They just want to look better on the outside and feel better on the inside. A young woman named Laura went in for a makeover, but for a special reason: she was about to undergo chemotherapy and wanted to have a voluntary makeover before she had an involuntary one.
Chemotherapy can help put cancer into remission, but it’s a brutal regimen. Typically it involves medicines that interfere with cell division. The idea is that since cancer cells divide especially rapidly, they’ll suffer the worst. However, good cells get hit too and that’s why chemotherapy has so many side effects, among others: immune system suppression, reduced blood cell production, damage to bone marrow, inflammation of the digestive tract, and most visibly, hair loss.
Laura figured that a new look would give her a mental boost before she began her chemotherapy regimen; anything that would help with her inner strength was worth doing. She treated herself to the Pierre Michel Salon on fashionable 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan. Laura put herself in the hands of expert stylist Jerome Lordet, letting him decide what the best approach would be. She’d made a good choice: Jerome knew exactly what would look good while also helping her through an emotionally fraught time. She was a bit shocked as he cut off much of her formerly long hair, nervously running her hand through it at times.
As you’ll see in the video posted below, the end result of Jerome’s work looked great. To complete the makeover, one of the salon’s top makeup artists expertly applied eye shadow, blush, and lipstick, making Laura’s already pretty face even more beautiful.
