When it comes to animals we simply cannot get enough! We just adore animals and want to learn as much as we can about them. We devour as many facts and information as we can an yet we still want more. Many people love animals so much that they dedicate their lives to them.
These dedicated individuals spend their lives observing and recording the behaviors and actions that these animals make. Some of those individuals work at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium. That is where this incredible footage was shot earlier in the year 2016.
April of 2016 was an exciting day at the Abbott Oceanarium at Shedd Aquarium, their Pacific white-sided dolphin gave birth to her first ever baby and the entire thing was caught on tape. Katrl who is 28 years old gave birth to her first baby in front of a large group of people, all of whom help take care of her.
Katrl spent a solid three hours in labor and at the end of it gave birth to a beautiful calf who quickly snuggled up to his mother while they swam around the tank together. There are only a few of these dolphins in North America so this birth was especially special to see and to catch on tape. Both mother and baby are doing well and are expected to thrive in the future.
