Gather around, grab a cup of your favorite drink, and let's take a walk down memory lane together. Remember those strange and forgotten features in old homes? Oh boy, it brings back memories!

Remember those half inside and half outside sleeping porches designed to keep us cool during those sweltering summer nights? Or those decorative metal plates on brick houses that looked like S's or stars, meant to keep the walls from bowing outward? Ah, those were the days!

We can always remember those old oil tanks found in basements, the cleaner alternative to coal heating, but with their own set of problems. And who could forget the once-essential ice delivery door in the kitchen, making life so much easier for the iceman?

With their split-in-the-middle design, Dutch doors were a lifesaver, allowing sunlight and fresh air in a while keeping curious animals out. And then there were those tiny niches in the wall, made specifically for those bulky old telephones. Nowadays, they're perfect spots for keys or cute decorations.

Let's remember the tiny iron doors leading to coal chutes in the basement! When coal heating was the norm, it was quite the sight to see coal delivery men going door-to-door with shovels.

Who else remembers the knob, tube wiring, push-button light switches, and fireplaces in every room? And how about the iconic Hoosier cabinets that doubled as kitchen workstations? Those were the good old days of home design, weren't they?

The charming boot scrapers outside front doors kept our homes clean from muddy boots, while the unique steam radiators provided centralized heating. And speaking of heating, how about those old medicine cabinets in the bathroom, complete with a tiny slit to dispose of used razor blades?

Last but not least, the home milk delivery and picture rails – are two features that remind us of simpler times. So many wonderful memories and that's just scratching the surface!
