Longtime Dorman Michael Eades noticed that one of the guests, Brandon Leach, was getting very chummy with the hotels dogs. Brandon, just 12 years old, had lived at the hotel for several months whilst being treated for mitochondrial disease. This disease stopped the body cells from working properly.
Michael noticed that Brendan suffering was reduced when the dogs were around. So Michael organized a black lab for Brendan to take home with him. Black labs are excellent at being therapy service dogs. This incredible breed of dogs has helped countless people in need of the many years they have served mankind.
Michael make sure that the dog was specially trained to recognize common symptoms associated with Brandon’s disease so that the dog might spring into action if ever called to do so.
