Sometimes it’s hard being a super fan. Just ask Anthony Yorfido, one of Steven Tyler’s biggest fans. 23-year-old Anthony was disheartened to learn that he wouldn’t be able to see Aerosmith in concert due to the show being sold out at both nearby venues.
He gave up on the hope, figuring he’d just missed his chance. But the universe has some strange tricks up its sleeve sometimes. Anthony, who was born with Down’s Syndrome, had no idea what was in store for him when he went out one day to run some errands with his mother.
It was late in the afternoon when Anthony and his mother, Diane, stopped at a Niagara Falls medical supply store for a few things. They noticed a limousine in the parking lot, but didn’t give it much thought.
Once inside, Diane noticed a man at the counter who looked familiar, but she couldn’t quite figure out why. Her son, on the other hand, knew exactly who he was looking at.
“Oh, my God!” Anthony said, according to Denise. “Steven Tyler, is that you?”
Anthony rushed over, and Tyler gave him a big hug. He asked Anthony and Denise if they would be going to his show, which is when Anthony told him about his bad luck. At this point, Tyler made Anthony’s dream come true, by offering tickets and backstage passes.
At the show, Tyler brought Anthony onstage to play maracas during “Sweet Emotion”, even calling out “Anthony’s in the house!” during the song. What a night!
