Living alone is a challenge, not just for humans but also for animals. Spending your life without a companion can make anyone sad. One such incident recently made headlines when shelter volunteers were trying hard to get a new home for one of their dogs named Merrick.

The adorable dog was rescued as a puppy and spent over 1,000 days at the shelter, also known as Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. The local volunteer, Scott Poore, knew that he had to do something about the dog's current situation.

He tried everything in the book to get the dog a family. However, he had no luck. The shelter had set hoardings in the local area that had the picture of Merrick and requested people to come forward for the adoption. It was a long wait for the poor dog.

The volunteers of the shelter had not given up on him at all. They only had one goal: to find Merrick his new home. Time passed, and Merrick had spent almost 5 years in the shelter.

Finally, after a lifetime of waiting, they found a person who was more than willing to adopt Merrick. He was excited to go to his new house. He jumped up into the backseat of the car and enjoyed the ride to his new home with one of the shelter's volunteers.

Merrick did not know what to do and hid by the front door. However, he soon realized that it was time to explore his new home. He had his new toys and was happy to meet his new dad.

Later he explored his new neighborhood and instantly got comfortable in his new house. Merrick couldn't stop himself from showing his love to his new dad. He kissed his dad constantly.
