Sweet Piggy Meets a New Dad Who Changed His Life

A man holds a small, orange and black guinea pig close to his face, both appearing calm and affectionate.

Todd from Arthurs Acres Animal Sanctuary had around 70 pigs in their care. They specialized in "Special Needs Pigs" and helped them for the rest of their lives. However, the kind man recently learned about Mikey, a piglet attacked by a dog.

Todd got the message from a doctor about the situation at hand. Some people had already shown up at an animal clinic with a baby pig attacked by their dog. The poor baby was not doing well.

The people told the vets that saving the piglet for $500 was not possible; they could go and euthanize him. But, after the treatment began, the vets already reached $400 and needed more to save the little one.

A small, fluffy, orange and white animal, possibly a baby piglet, is nestled between two people's arms.

Hence, the vet asked Todd to consider adopting him. The sanctuary bills were already skyrocketing, but the compassionate man decided to help the piglet, Mikey. The vets continued with the brain surgery. At first, his motor skills were not that great.

Mikey was spinning one way in a circle, not really doing much else. However, the little piggy knew he would be excellent with his new dad by his side. Mikey recovered and came home. But he was definitely a fragile little boy. Todd knew that Mikey still needed care. So, he brought a crib for his room and kept him in it as the crates were cold.

The poor guy was neurologically not doing well. Thus, Mikey had developed a tilted head. He had fallen sick again. However, this time it was because of blocked sinuses. He had to stay at the vet for another week. Although Mikey recovered, Todd made it a point that he slept with him. The reason is that the little piglet had not received nurturing from his mother.

The new dad knew that his piggy would heal only if he felt loved. The little piggy loved to eat and went crazy over bananas, blueberries, and strawberries. Both of them had a special bond. Mikey had almost recovered. Todd knew the piglet should stay out in the open, but he would never force him to do that.
