A video showing a figure skater at the Italian Grand Prix is blowing people’s minds. The grace, elegance, and feeling that went into the routine are admirable, to say the least.
Anna Shcherbakova went on to win gold with her mesmerizing performance at the prestigious event held in Turin, Italy. She performed a flawless performance that didn’t allow the judges to deduce her score at the end.
One viewer summed her performance up perfectly. He wrote: ‘This is why people can’t call figure skaters jumping machines or bags of tricks. The detail in figure skating became more meaningful. You can see the expression in her body and face throughout the performance.’
Although nobody seems to disagree, it is still necessary to applaud her technical skating skills as well. Throughout her performance, she did nerve-wracking aerial maneuvers and spins and executed them perfectly well.
Anna is no amateur, though, and has the accolades to prove it. She is the 2021 World Champion, 2020 European silver medalist, 2019 Grand Prix Silver medalist, 2019 Cup of China winner, 2019 Skate America champion and the list goes on.
She is the first senior woman to land a quad Lutz. This complicated acrobatic maneuver has only been successfully performed by a handful of women around the world. Anna is currently ranked number 2 in the world.
You don’t have to be an expert in the sport or an avid fan to enjoy this performance from Anna. The music, the moves, and the emotions displayed and evoked by the beautiful skater are mesmerizing to observe.
